Super Chic’ Wigs & Hair was founded by Amber Squalls, a Detroit-area creative with a passion for beauty, bold expression, and the freedom that great hair can bring. Amber graduated from Central Michigan University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Like many new graduates, she found herself placed in entry-level positions that didn’t reflect her potential or her vision for her life. Still searching for purpose, she launched an event planning business — but due to location and timing, it wasn’t the success she hoped for.

Instead of settling, Amber returned to her family’s longstanding business to regroup and decide her next move. During that time, she continued nurturing the hobbies she loved most: making wigs and doing her own makeup. Her aunt encouraged her to turn her talent into a business, but Amber initially doubted herself. It wasn’t until she began searching for flexible, work-from-home options — so she could continue caring for her grandmother — that she realized her passion for wig making had the potential to become something greater.

After years of hands-on research, testing, and perfecting her craft, Amber built the foundation for what would become a premium hair brand.

Rooted in Legacy & Community

Amber was raised in Royal Oak Township, Michigan, one of the oldest predominantly Black communities outside of Detroit. She comes from a long line of entrepreneurs — many of her relatives operated businesses over the decades, but her grandparents’ store is the only one that still stands today. Established in 1948, it remains open to this day and is where Amber continues to work, honoring her family’s legacy and supporting the surrounding community.

She remained at the store primarily to help care for her grandmother, who passed at the age of 101 on May 11, 2019. After her grandmother’s passing, Amber chose to stay involved to help her mother keep the store alive — and because it offered the flexibility she needed to build her own brand.

The Birth of Super Chic’ Wigs & Hair

In 2019, Amber officially launched her wig business under the name Krowne De Queen Wigs and Hair. The pandemic brought major shifts, and in 2020, she decided to rebrand with a clearer focus and a more elevated identity. That’s when Super Chic’ Wigs & Hair was born.

While Krowne De Queen specialized in natural-colored closure and frontal wigs, Amber envisioned something far more expressive. Super Chic’ now caters to clients who appreciate luxury, artistry, and vibrant, uniquely colored wigs that make a statement. Every unit is crafted with high-quality hair designed to last for years, offering customers both beauty and long-term value.
